Premier League Preview - GW 15

Updated: Dec 15, 2024

The continuous stream of winter football marches on this weekend, with clubs and players straight back into the action after the first midweek gameweek of this Premier League season.

The weekend will begin with a thrilling clash at Goodison: the Merseyside Derby, for the last time set to occur at the Toffees' historic home. Everton picked up a serendipitous victory against Liverpool last April, but will struggle to replicate the result against the table-topping Reds, who will be looking to further increase their record-breaking lead at the summit. Although Aston Villa may appear to languish in mid-table, looks can be deceiving until the New Year - they still aim to defeat underwhelming Southampton. An unpredictable tussle will play out in West London - anything could happen between Brentford and Newcastle. Ever-rational and confident Pep Guardiola (below) is seeing his team unravel before his very eyes and knows Manchester City must pick up a win against struggling Crystal Palace. Forest, incidentally, travel to face City's neighbours, and must be at their best against new-look Manchester United.

Brighton can continue their incredible run with a win at Leicester City on Sunday, although Foxes fans will hope Ruud van Nistelrooy’s managerial bounce will reignite their season. Arsenal fans will hope the team keeps their foot down against Fulham - who were unlucky to not overcome Tottenham last Sunday. Bournemouth travels to Suffolk to face an Ipswich team that knows it has an opportunity to escape the perilous grip of the relegation zone. The big event of the day is the fierce rivalry between Spurs and Chelsea. Nobody knows what to expect from this one — which makes it even better.

Finally, on Monday, Wolves take on West Ham at the London Stadium, with both sides urgently needing to pick up points.

One third of the way through the season, this weekend of Premier League football is set to be as unpredictable and exciting as ever!
