Premier League Preview GW16

Updated: 5 days ago

After last weekend's spectacle of scintillating football that displayed the true entertaining qualities of the Premier League, we can only hope we will be provided with the same high-scoring fixtures this time round.

Liverpool still lead the league by four points and with a game in hand over their title rivals following Storm Darragh's destructive force. One man proving to be a destructive force is Mo Salah himself, the Egyptian ruling over his brothers and at the head of the scoring and assist charts. Fulham will be difficult for the Reds to defeat, especially since they held Arsenal to a draw last Sunday. Concurrently, Arsenal host Liverpool's opponents who also missed out on football last weekend - Everton: the other Merseyside outfit in the division will pose much less of a threat than their neighbours. While Leicester will look to capitalise on Newcastle's recent poor form and break free of the relegation fight, two teams in the thick of it are Wolves and Ipswich. A draw would do neither team any good so the game can be expected to be action-packed. Another two teams, which recently occupied the bottom three places have found their form, reinvigorated by their respective Iberian managers. Forest host Villa on Motzei Shabbos and if the game is half as enjoyable as Forest's clash at the same time last week against United, then it is certainly a clash not to be missed.

The M23 derby between Brighton and Crystal Palace often overachieves and has potential to go either way. The main event of the weekend sees the two Manchester clubs go head to head at the Etihad Stadium. United have the personnel to overcome their great rivals, but that largely depends on which version of the teams turn out. Later, on Sunday evening, Spurs travel to the South Coast hoping to power past Southampton, but based on the four goals they conceded at Chelsea, the Saints have a chance. Chelsea, incidentally, have a

coinciding match hosting Brentford, who seem brilliant and chaotic at home, but rather tired in their away fixtures. Palmer should inspire the Blues to a victory, keeping up pressure on Liverpool. Bournemouth then host West Ham for the final fixture of the game-week. One of the surprise packages of the season, Bournemouth may rise as high as fifth with a win.
